SUBNET is looking for a Systems Analyst Specialist to work on a team of IT professionals to support the full lifecycle delivery/implementation of multiple high profile software projects.

Position Responsibilities:

• Work on a team of IT professionals to support the full lifecycle delivery/implementation of multiple high profile software projects aimed at revolutionizing business processes within Dominion Virginia Powers Electric Transmission business unit.
• Primary liaison between SUBNET customer (Dominion) and SUBNET
• Candidate is responsible to look for business opportunities to streamline processes with automated solutions
• Manage customer relationship through the effective use of technical knowledge to address customer inquiries and concerns
• Provide on-site troubleshooting assistance and support to customers in collaboration with SUBNET support team.
• Participate in quarterly meetings at SUBNET’s Head Office location in Calgary, AB Canada (Examples, new product launches, advanced training)
• Responsible for supporting the day to day technical delivery and management of the project while helping to ensure effective delivery of projects tasks, deliverables, and milestones on time, and within specification and or agreed upon project scope.
• Responsible for the joint development and delivery of the project plan between Dominion and key software supplier. Act as the product expert and point of contact on site at Dominion for non-US based software supplier.
• Maintains quality and focus, and successfully manages end to end solution delivery process for one or more IT projects, with minimal direction.
• Translate business and user requirements into accurate system requirements specification documents through systems and data analysis while managing traceability throughout the project delivery.
• Contribute to and work to meet project schedules by providing accurate estimates of effort required for analyst and development deliverables by providing updates on project progress to team members, project management and project personnel, and by escalating issues that might affect project success to management.
• Participates in business requirements gathering and assimilation of this into functional and technical designs that are the basis of the project plan.
• Ability to define tasks and estimate level of effort to achieve deliverables and goals.
• Interacts regularly with Business customers, Business Analysts, Architects, Developer and Software vendors.\
• Collect information to analyze and evaluate existing or developed company applications or systems and prepares documentation including detailed descriptions, flow charts, diagrams, and system interface descriptions outlining systems capabilities and processes.
• Experience planning software implementations and establishing after go-live activities including ongoing support

Desired Qualifications:

• Minimum 7 years of lead development and/or lead systems analysis experience on medium to large-scale projects preferably using Microsoft based solutions leveraging a SOA.
• Minimum 7 years of experience supporting the development & configuration & testing of complex multi-tiered web applications with web services.
• Demonstrated experience with project management skills.
• Demonstrated experience with creating use-case diagrams and system specifications, test cases, test plans, SQL querying/scripting, work breakdown structures.
• Demonstrated strong analytical and problem solving skills.
• Outstanding communication, organization, time management, and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple concurrent activities and projects.
• Strong working knowledge of SDLC practices and procedures
• Demonstrated ability to organize materials and make presentations in front of a group
• Demonstrated ability to multi-task and work with minimal supervision within a team environment
• Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of professionalism in a fast-paced environment

Additional Skills:

• Knowledge of Substation Automation and SCADA design
• Knowledge of industrial communication networking technologies such as Modbus, DNP3, TCP/IP
• Ability to learn functional and technical capabilities of systems and future plans in order to be effective in understanding the business environment and translating requirements into viable IT solutions.

Please Note:

This role will be based in Richmond, VA but will require 2-3 months (not consecutive) up front on site at the software supplier located in Calgary Canada. Logistics and timing can be flexible.
